"WHAT A LION MEANS TO ME WINNER"
PP PAUL WONG (Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club)
International Lions of the Year 2008:

Fellow lions and leos,
Being a lion gave me the opportunity to serve in many different ways.
I serve by being a mentor. My greatest success was to help leos and lions to become outstanding  leaders. I am so proud of my protégés Louise Lee and Laurie Huang won the Leo of the Year Award in Lions International. Glenn Cho was a finalist as the Top Club President in Lions International. Henry Ng is unequivocally the best District Governor in Lions International. I serve by making a big difference.  I donated all my Vancouver Canucks hockey tickets to sponsor the Care Program at Garden City Elementary School.  If a teacher catches a student performing a good need, he or she will receive a coupon.  At the end of every week there will be a draw and the winner will receive 2 hockey tickets.  As a result the Care Program has completely abolished bullying in the school.
Here is a write up in the Vancouver Province Newspaper. "Fan of the Day: Paul Wong" He gave all his season tickets to school kids. I serve my giving back to the community.  I instigated the Medal of Merit Award Dinner for the Vancouver Chinatown Lions Club to raise fund for the B.C. Cancer Foundation.  The project won first prize as the "Best Money Maker In Lions  International".  Last year the dinner raised $150,000.  Here is a full page coverage in the Ming Pao Newspaper.  I cannot think of a better way to up grade the image of Lions International.
I serve by making our membership younger and smarter.  I chartered the first leo year in 1995 with Lap Cheung as the president and  the first New Century Lions Club in 2003 with Laura Huang as the President.  The youth movement has been phenomenal.   To-day District 19 A has 8 leo clubs and 5 new century lions Club.
Confucius said, "Find a job you love and you will never have to work a single  day in your life".
Being a lion is the best job in the world and I will not trade it for all  the tea in China.
