LION ELLIE CHAN

Lion Ellie Chan came from Hong Kong in 1975 and has lived in Vancouver since.  She has always been in the work force after her graduation from the HK University. Her first job here was with the CIBC where she stayed for 12 years, after which she directed her career to real estate and insurance.  She has 2 sons - Mark and Derek.  She was promoted to becoming grandma by Mark and his lovely wife Emily with their 2 adorable children.

ZC Ellie is a chartered member of the Vancouver Shaughnessy Lions Club since 1988.  She was Club President in 1989 and was recycled for the same position in 2002.  She had gone through every position on the Board of Directors, but it took her 19 years before she finally took up the challenge of being a Zone Chair.

She is a  Melvin Jones Progressive Fellow, a Judge Brian Stevenson Fellow, Director and Life Member of the District 19 A Lions Diabetes Foundation, District 19A Peace Poster Contest Chair 2006 - 2007.  She had been twice Lion of the Year, maintained 100% attendance since 2002.

She is thankful for WHO she is and WHAT she has and therefore believes strongly in returning such favors by contributing to and serving the community.  She is also a firm believer in "TIMING" for everything one does in life.  That Volunteer work should come after one's responsibilities in health, family and livelihood matters.  But when Timing is right, one could escalate and broaden one’s contribution to the community.
